Carlo Galli
Philosopher
A political scientist and historian of political thought, born in 1950. He was a professor at the University of Bologna and made an in-depth study of the authors and categories of political modernity, with attention to the concepts of power, sovereignty, conflict and political space.
Carlo Sini studied at the University of Milan under Giovanni Emanuele Barié and Enzo Paci, with whom he graduated in Philosophy, later becoming his assistant. After obtaining the libera docenza (independent lecturing qualification) in Theoretical Philosophy, he taught Philosophy of History and History of Philosophy at the University of L’Aquila. In 1976 he was called to the chair of Theoretical Philosophy in the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy of the University of Milan, where he also served for three years as Dean of the Faculty. For many years a member of the Collegium Phaenomenologicum of Perugia, of the National Board of the Italian Philosophical Society and of the Institut International de Philosophie in Paris, he is a national member of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, of the Lombard Institute of Sciences and Letters and of the Husserl Archive of Leuven. Awarded in 1985 for one of his works the Prize of the Presidency of the Council of the Italian State, in 2002 he received the Cross of Honour, First Class, for Sciences and Arts from the Austrian State. He has held courses, seminars and lectures in the United States, Canada, Argentina, Spain, Switzerland and other European countries. He collaborated for over a decade with the cultural pages of the Corriere della Sera and still collaborates with Rai, with Swiss Radio and Television, and with various weeklies and newspapers. He directs the “Pragmata” series for AlboVersorio and is a member of the scientific committee of the festival La Festa della Filosofia. On 7 December 2014 he was awarded the Ambrogino d’oro by the City of Milan.
