On Wednesday 15 April at 3:00 p.m. the ninth event of the 12th Sannio Philosophy Festival was held online, organised by the association “Stregati da Sophia”. The protagonist was Prof. Carlo Galli with the lectio magistralis “Beauty and politics”.
Starting from Plato's Phaedrus, the meeting analysed the modern transformation of beauty, increasingly reduced to a commodity and a communication tool. Galli highlighted how beauty has been privatised within the individual sphere and, at the same time, used in the political arena to build consensus.
The need emerged for an education in beauty as a non-materialistic and authentically relational value.
